Fort Worth Homelessness Annual Event
For the third consecutive year, "Better Vision Better Hope" program partnered with the City of Fort Worth and 60 other organizations in providing free general services, outreach assistance and health care to over 300 homeless individuals.
In this 4 hour event, close to 100 eye care patients were screened and evaluated with 65 patients receiving prescription glasses. In addition to improving vision with glasses, approximately 20 patients were referred for continued care (Cataracts, Glaucoma, Diabetes) with a local community eye clinic that renders vision care the underserved.
PROJECT HOMELESS CONNECT is a one-day, one-stop service and hospitality fair for people who are homeless. The event originated in San Franscisco and is now being replicated in more the 100 cities. It has been identified by the United States Intersgency on Homelessness (USICH) as an innovative model to move people more quickly toward housing and stability and to move from managing homelessness to ending it.
